It's no secret that we are strong advocates for business mentorship: we've expounded upon the power of mentoring here on the blog before, and we really can't place enough emphasis on how important it is for entrepreneurs and small business owners. It's so important, in fact, that the entire month of January is dedicated to it!
While National Mentoring Month primarily focuses on the impact that volunteer mentors can have in helping youth reach their potential, it also extends to the business world. An experienced business mentor can help entrepreneurs navigate the unpredictable terrain of starting and growing a business.
Think about it: perhaps you have a great business idea, but you're unable to fully connect the dots or articulate your vision. All the pieces are there, but you're still trying to find a way to string them together. Or perhaps you're already a business owner, seeking to learn from those who are ahead of you on the journey of owning a business. In these cases, sometimes the most benficial exercise can be to have someone interview you. This is where mentors step in.
Rather than having you sit down and spill out mismatched thoughts, a mentor will guide you through your thoughts by asking the right questions, helping to develop a roadmap for your business while pinpointing potential problem areas and highlighting possible opportunities.
